Domaine Anne-Francoise Gros, Richebourg Grand Cru 2019
Price range: £4,990.00 through £5,777.006x750mlThe 2019 Domaine Anne-Françoise Gros Richebourg Grand Cru is a pinot noir centuries in the making. In 1988, Anne-Françoise Gros inherited ten acres of vineyards in Echézeaux and Richebourg. A few years later, she married François Parent; a talented vigneron descended from 12 generations of Burgundian winemakers. (Side note: Étienne Parent supplied wine to Thomas Jefferson.)
The winemaking duo utilizes traditional techniques to capture the essence of Richebourg pinot noir. Firm extraction produces an ultra-dense and concentrated wine with a medium body and focused fruit flavors. Raspberries, strawberries, candied orange, oak, and tangy acids punctuate the palate with a mineral inflection for additional depth. Even with its muscular physique, 2019 Domaine A.F. Gros Richebourg Grand Cru has the estate’s signature silkiness that makes it more ethereal than the classic Riche. Anyone fortunate enough to own a bottle can cellar it for many decades to come.
Domaine Anne-Francoise Gros Richebourg Grand Cru has wowed critics and collectors alike. It has an intricate complexity that blends wild berries with stone, black truffles, and lively acids. Give this $700+ wine time in the bottle, and you won’t be disappointed.
